September 22, 2015 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
William Powers, author of the “green living” bestseller Twelve by Twelve, reading from his new book, New Slow City, followed by a discussion and signing. Co-sponsors include: Slow Food USA, Slow Money Boston and World Policy Institute.
Burned-out after years of doing development and conservation work around the world, William Powers decided to see if the increasingly popular “slow living” approach was possible in one of the most frantic, most overworked, most expensive cities in the world: New York City.Powers explores the viability of Slow Food and Slow Money, technology fasts and urban sanctuaries. Along the way, he meets a colorful cast of New Yorkers who are also attempting to resist the culture of “Total Work“. New Slow City is an inspiring exploration for anyone trying to make urban life more people- and planet-friendly.
